Hi! I’m Prof. Dörte Becher, I hold a Diploma (MSc equivalent) in Chemistry. Since the completion of my PhD in microbiology at the University of Greifswald in 1998, my research focused on the development, establishment and optimization of mass spectrometry-based proteomics methods with a focus on the global characterization of microbial proteomes in a qualitative and quantitative manner. After my habilitation in 2012, I have extended my research field to the elaboration and application of newly established proteomics methods with particular consideration of technologically/industrial relevant questions, infection-related conditions, or metaproteomics aspects. I hold a Professorship for Microbial Proteomics at the Institute of Microbiology since 2013 and I am the Managing Director of this institute since 2020.
