On 25 August 2026, HoloRuminant will take part in a cross-project webinar exploring Cow-Calf Contact (CCC), from science to practice.
Organised by TransformDairyNet (TDN), the webinar will bring together three complementary perspectives on CCC: the science of maternal contact and microbiome development, farmer-driven innovations from Living Labs, and the challenges of implementing CCC in different national contexts.
HoloRuminant will be represented by Sabine Scully, who will discuss colostrum as a maternal source of pioneering microorganisms and how maternal contact shapes microbiome development.
She will be joined by:
- Julie Føske Johnsen (TransformDairyNet) – presenting TDN’s Living Labs approach, placing farmers at the centre of knowledge creation and practical development.
- Ambra Motta (CONTACT – CRPA) – sharing experiences from trialling CCC in Italy, including the evaluation process, data collection methodology and challenges encountered on the ground.
Together, the three projects will trace the journey of Cow-Calf Contact from biological insights to practical implementation on farms.
